The pieces keep falling into place. While doing some research on mobile apps that will help bring BIM and facilities information to the field, I stumbled upon a suite of mobile software from Vela Systems. Vela Systems’ software helps track issues in the field and allows for the documentation and viewing of those issues through email and mobile devices. As an owner of an iPad I was instantly excited to see that they did in fact have an iPad application for their management suite. The application for the iPad will allow you to view documents, worklists, checklists, and more through your iPad. It can even be used without a 3G connection in the field because it will upload your changes once you get to a Wifi hotspot.
The management suite which Vela has created shows the potential and power of information regarding a building being delivered to the right people in the field. It really drives home the idea of having BIM and facilities information in the field and viewable at any time. Thanks for finding us and writing about us! @ Vela Systems we’re really excited about the convergence of BIM, mobility and cloud-computing based software.
Just wanted to let folks know that the iPad app is free for download and that we will also soon be launching a “free trial” of the rest of the Vela Field Manager suite. Very exciting times.

Thanks a lot Josh. At SHP Leading Design we have a very large Construction Administration group and we are always looking for ways to get more a more efficient, paperless process into our field reps hands. I was doing some research and came across the Vela Systems Management Suite. There was so much to explore but the iPad app really caught my eye at first.
I actually just talked to one of my CA guys about use this on a project that we are doing for Hamilton City School District. He is getting ready to punch a few buildings. Hopefully the free trial will be ready in a few weeks because I would really like to get a good test. Is there anyway to setup a demonstration for our field guys in our office?
